Too philosophical?
Life is such a weird thing, isn’t it?
Two people have a conversation, and one of them goes away thinking they’d been talking about relationships, while the other is convinced the chat was based around weather. Such is the manner of our interactions with fellow humans.
I don’t even trust my own memory. I’m sure sometimes I remember things clearly, only to have it shown to me by other peoples evidence that I was wrong. Happened this week with an e-mail exchange between myself and Head Office. I would swear on the Bible and the life of my future children that we’d agreed to a senior management site visit in July, only to later have it pointed out that they were coming to see us in May. May the twenty-sixth to be exact. So I now have four days to prepare for something that I thought we had six weeks to get ready for. It’s only a follow-up visit to see how the overnight opening is going, so it’s not a big check-up on performance or something I need to worry about, but reports will have to be prepared and we’ll have to have a tidy-up. I’m glad it’s happening sooner than expected, if I’m honest. Everyone wins. We can get it out of the way and not have to think about it anymore, while senior management get to have a day out on the Friday going into a bank holiday weekend. Everyone’s a winner.
