Can a linguist help?
A quick thought on Fridays poem: By the time you reached the bottom of it, hadn’t the word ‘Another’ ceased to mean anything? I’m sure there must be a name for this phenomenon, but whenever you use a word over and over in quick repetition, especially if it’s written down, you start to get some kind of word blindness and find it impossible to decipher what it means. It’s like that word has been removed from your vocabulary. It’s just a jumble of lines and curves on a piece of paper or on a screen with no discernible meaning. It happens to me, anyway. ‘Phantom’ is a great example. Say it in your head a few times, write it down a dozen or so times on lined paper and it starts to look nonsensical.
