For all the talk of coronavirus and restrictions
affecting people’s Christmasses, and for all the appeals from the government
for people to act responsibly, we have the usual December madness ramping up in
the store today. There’s not a parking space to be had anywhere, and there are
queues of shoppers around the side of the building and halfway back to the
filling station.
I am so, so glad at times like these that I am manager of the garage and not the superstore!
You might think that a ‘shorter, safer’ Christmas
would mean people need less supplies in than normal, but I guess it’s traditional
to buy three trollies full of crap you won’t eat just to make yourself feel
prepared.
