Everything Is So Green (a poem)

Everything is so green
Spring skies reign blue
I walk upon a tender lawn
Daisies tickling my feet
Birdsong trilling; my ears tingling
Breathing clearer air
Hedges full of bud, full of future
Buzzing bees bring beauty
The heart swells, fulfilled

Everything is so green
An explosion of life abounds
Crops swelling, reaching, rising
A new day springs anew
Swifts swoop, swallows show
Broods and hatchlings prosper
Senses joyfully assailed
A natural painting of wonder

Everything is so green
Never before encountered
Situations unknown, results unclear
Path to tomorrow unsteady
New friendships uncovered
Outreaching love abundant
Old acrimonies forgotten
Green shoots leading to survival
